1990-2000 DCAT's Centennial

This edition of DCAT by the Decades focuses on the 1990s at a time when the association was positioning itself for success in the new millennium and creating events that are now DCAT traditions. 

1980-1990 Breaking Barriers

This edition of DCAT by the Decades focuses on the 1980s and highlights the women leaders of the association, including Harriette F. Witmer who became DCAT’s first woman president in 1981 – 91 years after DCAT was founded! 

1970-1980 DCAT's Leading Lady

This edition of DCAT by the Decades focuses on the 1970s and honors DCAT’s longtime staff member, Helen L. Booth. Ms. Booth was an integral part of the organization for 47 years! 

1960-1970 Movin' On Up!

This edition of DCAT by the Decades focuses on the 1960s – a decade of DCAT advancement. In 1961, DCAT received its certificate of incorporation, allowing DCAT to function as an independent membership association.

1950-1960 Targeting Growth - DCAT Membership Soars!

This edition of DCAT by the Decades focuses on the 1950s. DCAT membership was stronger than ever– boasting over 800 member companies by the end of the decade.

1930-1950 First Member Outing

This edition of DCAT by the Decades focuses on the years 1930 to 1950. After finding a successful formula for business development with the creation of the DCAT Annual Dinner in 1926, the organization wanted to provide even more opportunities for members to get to know each other on a face to face basis. In 1936, DCAT transformed its Annual Meeting into a comprehensive weekend, where members could cultivate business relationships and attend education seminars led by prominent industry speakers.

1910-1930 A Tradition is Born with the First DCAT Annual Dinner

This edition of DCAT by the Decades focuses on the years 1910 to 1930. This was an important time for DCAT, as we hosted our first Annual Dinner and sparked not only a tradition, but a sentiment that still holds true today – personal contacts are the heart of a successful organization.

1890-1910 How It All Began

This edition of DCAT by the Decades focuses on the first twenty years of the organization. On June 18, 1890, 124 years ago, a press release appeared in the Oil, Paint and Drug Reporter (later known as Chemical Market Reporter) advising companies of the formation of our organization.
